Mother Earthworms cc (CK2000/034441/23) is a specialist worm breeding and composting farm in Rheenendal, Knysna. We manufacture vermicompost and vermiliquid using Eisenia Fetida (Kariba or Tiger) composting worms. These unique worms are best suited for composting, and assist in breaking down, eating and reconstituting decaying organic matter into premium soil food. The virtues of vermiculture are well known, with farmers as well as gardeners demanding better organic alternatives.
Many keen anglers also swear by the magic of Kariba (Red Wriggler) worms for inland fishing! We often have clients pick of fresh worm stock for fishing competitions, and have won many times using Kariba worms as bait.
Eisenia Fetida Composting Worms, also known as Red Wriggler, Brandling or Tiger worms or the Kariba worm is found within Africa, and is not on the invasive worm species list. The Eisenia Fetida worm is in fact endemic to MOST countries!

Mother Earthworms now operates out of Knysna and Port Elizabeth, with both cities showing a growing interest in the possibilities of using the Kariba worm for fishing, and for home-based vermicomposting. It simply makes sense to use the kitchen scraps you already have to make your OWN vermicompost and vermitea. This system of in-house gardening and/or recycling not only reduces the carbon footprint, but is almost FREE, as the only one-off cost is buying compost worms and making a DIY worm farm, or purchasing one from a seller…
It is in fact, considered world-over as possibly the best and most resilient composting worm. Vermiculture (worm breeding) and vermicomposting (using the Eisenia Fetida worms) are proving invaluable, as farmers, food schemes and conservation initiatives can better use their OWN green waste within a specific community and/or programme, thus lessening the cost for expensive fertilizers, and preventing wasteful and unhygienic landfills.
